There's always too much going on. More music projects start up, tours send us across the country, whatever it is, there's always work being done, and in the background, past all the noise, time passes by. It's hard to keep in touch with the world instead of just getting lost in making the music.
We've been quiet online since the West Coast tour in July. We co-performed with Rabbit Junk, playing as the combined force of Cya-Junk, in support of 16 Volt. Afterward, I spent an extra week at JP's home in Seattle doing some hardcore production and song building. I've tried to write about those first six weeks of summer at least 20 times since then, and I always stop writing after an hour or so. My words can never come close to describing the all perception-altering events that took place on the road for myself and everyone else on that tour.
I will squelch some of the ambiguity in that statement by saying that it was definitely a positive experience. Getting to share our set with Rabbit Junk was the best time onstage I've had in 15 tours, because I felt like we were really taking an interesting approach, having both bands play together, having JP back me up on vocals in Cyanotic songs and I'd do the same for the Junk set. It helped me to become a lot more take-charge and confident, having to try to accomdate and facilitate things for a larger group than my usual crew.
The past few months have been priceless in the way they've influenced our creative flow. Sharing a rental van with JP and the Rabbit Junk crew, living like transients for a couple weeks, seeing fans who travelled hours just to see our set when we in turn had travelled many sleepless nights just to see those supporters... it was a very encouraging venture.
To keep everybody up to date, here's a concise listing of recent and current projects:
Cyanotic just did our set @ the Forward Music Festival in Madison, WI this Friday as part of the Reverence showcase. We were surrounded by good company the whole night and were especially happy to hang out with our buddies from Caustic, The Gothsicles and Alter Der Ruine again. We tried out some new songs from "The Medication Generation" for the first time. I know we signed release forms for a couple different camera crews, so I hope we can debut footage with the new songs soon for everybody to check.
16 Volt's new album is now available. These guys have been a huge influence on Cyanotic from the beginning, and we are very proud to be contibutors to the creation of their new album American Porn Songs. Sean Payne of Cyanotic contributes electronics and additional programming to "Alkali", "Enjoy the Pain", "With Fire and Burning", "American Porn Song", "To Hell" and more.

Prude, the infamous project featuring Jared Louche (Chemlab), Marc Plastic (Plastic Heroes), Matt Fanale (Caustic), Sean Payne (Cyanotic) and Phil Disiena (Infocollapse/Cyanotic) is nearing final stages.
The Medication Generation, the long-awaited new album from Cyanotic, is near complete. After hard drive failures, time spent away on tours and on other projects, and shifting to a new studio setup we're finally in end-game. At the moment we're in the midst of our final mixing and mastering sessions, assisted by co-producer Jamie Duffy (DJ? Acucrack / Acumen Nation). The wait will be worth it. The Medication Generation will be available soon from Bit Riot Records.
Finally, JP from Rabbit Junk / The Shizit and myself have been working on a few top secret projects. One of these has been a long time coming, another is a collaborative adventure into the world of music licensing.
Also, we lost a good friend to the Cyanotic/Glitch Mode crew just recently. Ed "Ded" Johnson, who has been a big help to us on the road many times, was run over by his crazy bitch of an ex-girlfriend, who has since turned herself into the police. We hope she gets what she deserves. The underground music scene lost one of its most avid supporters last week. We will miss your very distinct presence, Ed. Here's the last picture we took with Ed, just before finishing up the 2008 tour with 16 Volt.
